2 ½ tbsp Olive Oil (divided)
1 ½ lb lean Ground Beef
90 g pack Prosciutto (divided)
800 g Passata
1 cup Hot Beef Stock
Freshly grated Nutmeg
10-12 Lasagna Sheets
2 cups White Sauce
1 cup Mozarella (torn into strips)
Cook the Meat
In a large frying pan, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef mince in two batches and cook for about 10 minutes until browned.
Add Prosciutto and Sauce
Chop 4 slices of the prosciutto and stir them into the beef. Pour in the passata and hot beef stock. Add a pinch of nutmeg, then season with salt and pepper.
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, until thick and rich.
Preheat the Oven
Heat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or Gas Mark 4. Lightly grease a 30x20 cm baking dish with olive oil.
Layer the Lasagne
Spread one-third of the meat sauce in the dish. Add a layer of lasagne sheets, then spoon over about 130g of white sauce.
Repeat the Layers
Repeat the layers two more times (meat, pasta, white sauce), finishing with the remaining white sauce on top. Ensure all pasta is covered.
Top with Cheese and Prosciutto
Scatter the mozzarella over the top, then arrange the remaining prosciutto slices.
Bake to Perfection
Bake for 45 minutes or until bubbling and golden on top. Let rest for 10–15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to settle.
