Wüsthof leads our selection with world-renowned German craftsmanship, offering sets built to last a lifetime. Global adds sleek, modern Japanese design, while Kasumi delivers precision and style for serious chefs.

Whether you’re building your first kitchen or upgrading to professional quality, our knife sets deliver durability, sharpness, and performance. With trusted brands and a wide range of options, you’ll find the perfect set to suit your cooking style.

How to choose a knife set

    • Starter set (3 pieces): a chef's knife, a utility or vegetable knife and a paring knife cover most cooking. The Global 3-piece set pairs an 8" cook's knife with a 5.5" vegetable knife and a 3" peeling knife.
    • Knife block set (6–8 pieces): adds bread, santoku and serrated knives plus safe storage. The piece count includes the block and can include kitchen shears or a honing steel, so check how many knives a set holds: the Wüsthof Classic Natural Beech 8-piece block set, for example, has five knives. See the full Wüsthof range.
    • German or Japanese style: German knives such as Wüsthof are generally heavier with a sturdy edge; Japanese-style knives such as Global and Kasumi are often lighter with a finer edge.
    • Steak knife sets: see steak knives.

Prefer to build your own set? Start with our chef knives, then add a knife block and a sharpener.

    Frequently asked questions

How many knives do I really need?

Three knives (chef's, paring and serrated) handle most home cooking; larger sets add specialist blades and storage.

Is a knife block set worth it?

If you want matching knives and safe storage in one purchase, yes. If you already own a good chef's knife, a smaller set may be better value.

How do I keep a knife set sharp?

Hone regularly, sharpen when cutting feels harder, and use the tools each maker recommends. Japanese-style knives such as Global often have a finer edge angle than German knives, so use a sharpener made for them, such as Global's MinoSharp water sharpeners. Hand wash rather than using the dishwasher.
