Kitchen Niche is a family-owned business with a rich and diverse legacy, deeply rooted in the values of quality and love for cooking. Our story began in Switzerland in 1994, when we set out with a clear mission: to provide premium kitchen tools and cookware to passionate home cooks who cherish the art of preparing delicious meals. What started as a small endeavor quickly grew into a trusted brand.
Heidi and Albert, alongside their daughter Sandra, who was only 16 at the time, left Switzerland and moved to Canada in 2003. They chose Kelowna, BC as their new home, bringing their European culinary traditions and love for cooking to their business. Their travels—from Sydney, NS, to Moncton, NB, and eventually to Kelowna—marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Kitchen Niche, further strengthening the company’s foundation and legacy.
In 2004, Sandra's friend Roman, also from Switzerland, came to visit for a six-month stay to learn English at the University of British Columbia. Spoiler alert: he learned much more than just English. Sandra and Roman fell in love, and soon enough, Roman moved to Canada, bringing along not just his belongings but also a shared dream.

Instead of stepping away, they chose to embrace the next chapter of their culinary journey. They purchased the store’s inventory and took full ownership of Kitchen Niche, determined to carry forward the legacy of quality kitchenware and passion for cooking that had been carefully built over the years. With renewed energy and vision, they set out to grow the business and continue sharing their love for cooking with home chefs everywhere.
In 2013, Sandra and Roman moved to Calgary, where they live today with their ever-expanding collection of kitchen gadgets and cookware. The Kitchen Niche warehouse, located just outside of Calgary in the beautiful Foothills, is the heart of our operations, where we carefully select and pack each order with love and care.
