The Knife Block holds 4 knives with a length of up to 9" and a width of up to 1 7/8"? These could be chef knives, carving knives, etc. The knives will stick slightly whereas 8" knives fit entirely within the slot. The 3 other slots are perfect for knives with a length of up to 6" and a width of up to 1". These could be utility knives, paring knives, steak knives, etc.
